Announcement of the results of the first edition of the Scandium Baltic Region Research Grants competition

In the call for proposals under the Scandium Baltic Region Research Grants Program, aimed at supporting cooperation with leading centers from the Baltic Sea Region, nine applications were submitted, out of which four received funding - for a total of over PLN MILLION.

The submitted projects were in line with all PRA centers of the Gdansk University of Technology and covered a wide range of topics: ecological, medical, social, etc.

The winning projects include:

1. Detection of emerging contaminants in the Baltic Sea using optical transparent electrodes in optoelectrochemical systems
Applicant:  Marita McPhillips PhD FME, funding: PLN 113 200, Digital Technologies Center.

2. Removal of the pharmaceuticals from the aquatic environment by green photocatalysts
Applicant: Agnieszka Fiszka-Borzyszkowska PhD FC, funding: PLN 298 265, EkoTech Center.

3. Detection of emerging contaminants in the Baltic Sea using optical transparent electrodes in optoelectrochemical systems
Applicant: Michał Sobaszek PhD FETI, funding: PLN 299 250, Advanced Materials Center.

4. Development and characterization of highly specialized optical tissue phantoms for use in the development and validation of new diagnostic methods in oncology and societal disaes
Applicant: Maciej Wróbel, PhD, FETI, funding: PLN 294,830, BioTechMed Center
