Call in Iridium program to stimulate acquisition of prestigious international projects

The Iridium Stimulating Acquisition of Prestigious International Projects Program is part of the Gdansk University of Technology's implementation of the tasks of the IDUB Program in terms of raising the level of quality of the University's scientific activity under Measure I.3 - "Activities to increase the number of prestigious international projects within priority research areas and their implementation." The aim of the Program is to stimulate the acquisition of prestigious international research projects by PG employees, as a result of awarding incentive bonuses, in the form of an allowance for authors or co-authors of proposals and project managers involved in the successful acquisition and implementation of such projects, in particular those implemented under the EU Horizon Europe Framework Program (including European Research Council grants). European Research Council (ERC) grants, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) projects, European Innovation Council (EIC) grants and Widening participation and strengthening the European Research Area (WIDERA) projects) and EURATOM.

Incentive bonuses will be awarded upon receipt of project funding under:

  • European Research Council program, in which the principal investigator is a PG employee and PG is the host institution. In the case of ERC Starting Grant, ERC Consolidator Grant or ERC Advanced Grant, the amount of incentive bonus is 50,000 PLN, while in the case of ERC Proof of Concept Grant, the amount of incentive bonus is 20,000 PLN;
  • ERC Synergy Grant program funded under the European Research Council program, for PG as one of the partners. The amount of incentive bonus: PLN 40,000 for a high-volume project and PLN 25,000 for a low-volume project;
  • Pillar II activities of Horizon Europe (RIA, IA, CSA and others) and EUROATOM program, for PG in the role of coordinator. The amount of the incentive bonus is PLN 30,000;
  • Pillar II activities of Horizon Europe (RIA, IA, CSA and others) and the Euratom program, for PG in the role of partner. The amount of the incentive bonus in this case is PLN 20,000;
  • Pillar III activities of Horizon Europe, financed from the budget of the European Innovation Council (EIC), for PG in the role of coordinator. The amount of the incentive bonus in this case is PLN 25,000;
  • Pillar III activities of Horizon Europe, financed from the budget of the European Innovation Council (EIC), for PG in the role of partner. The amount of the incentive bonus in this case is PLN 15,000;
  • Maria Skłodowska-Curie and WIDERA actions, for PG in the role of coordinator of the implemented project. The amount of the incentive bonus in this case is PLN 10,000;
  • shares of Maria Skłodowska-Curie and WIDERA for PG in the role of partner of the implemented project. The amount of the incentive bonus in this case is PLN 5,000

To whom are the bonuses awarded? 

  • to a single person who prepared the application to obtain the project and became the project manager;
  • the manager and members of the team that prepared the application for obtaining an international grant;
  • as long as they have not previously received remuneration for participation in the team preparing the application for obtaining a project, including under a grant in the COPERNICIUM program. In the case of item 2. the percentage shares of the manager and team members in the preparation of the proposal should be specified in the bonus application.

How to apply?

  • The call for applications in the Program is continuous from August 1, 2023.
  • The application should be submitted only in electronic form through the MojaPG system in the Grants Module - Program type: support in obtaining international grants
