Meeting of University representatives with the Ukrainian students

Meeting
Vice-Rectors and employees of the International Relations Office, and the representatives of the Student Government met with Ukrainian students of Gdańsk University of Technology. The students were assured of the support and help they can obtain from the entire academic society in view of the war in their country.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Janusz Nieznański, Vice-Rector for internationalization and Innovation, Prof. Marek Dzida, Vice-Rector for education, Anna Modrzejewska, head of IRO, Julia Bobrowska from IRO, who supervises international students, and Jakub Persjanow, chairman of the SG.

The Vice-Rectors assured students from Ukraine about the support from the academic community, and also informed, inter alia, about the possibilities of obtaining psychological help at the University, extending the examination session, or the individual procedure for applying for a hardship scholarship.

There was also a discussion about aid initiatives for adults and children from Ukraine organized at the University, including preparation of a common room for children. Some of the Ukrainian students have already volunteered to help at the common room.

– As International Relations Office, we assured the students that they can count on our help in completing the formalities related to the legalization of stay in Poland, also when it comes to their family members. Simultaneously, we informed that the entire process of applying for accommodation in the dormitory and enrolling children to the common room takes place officially through the reception desk at “Dom Harcerza” hostel in Gdańsk - says Anna Modrzejewska, head of IRO.

Currently, 118 students from Ukraine are studying at Gdańsk University of Technology.
