Startup projects implementing Sustainable Development Goal no 7

Innovations

Startup projects developed at the Gdańsk University of Technology implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Currently there are 4 startup projects which implement Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy:

HydroCell

HydroCell is a modular system installed in single-family homes or small companies that allows the transformation of energy into hydrogen. The stored gas can be converted back into electricity and heat depending on current needs. Connecting the device to existing photovoltaic (PV) installations will allow you to maintain continuity of energy supply when the panels stop working. In this way, you can obtain almost 100% ecological energy. If there is no PV installation, the device will collect energy from the grid during energy peaks at a price lower than in the case of continuous consumption. This method of storage will reduce the price of electricity through better management of its flow. The system can also be an independent source of fuel for hydrogen cars.

OptiEnergy

Scalable Optimal Renewable Energy Management System (SOREMS) increases the effective capacity of the power system. It enables the creation of virtual producer-consumer circuits, to some extent analogous to VPN (Virtual Private Network). Optionally, it enables optimal use of energy storage. It also allows to optimize profits from energy sales and enables optimization of energy purchase costs.

SafeLockPowder

Startup focuses on the key challenge of the future - effective energy conversion, especially using renewable sources. Fuel cells and electrolyzers are a promising technology with potential ranging from several kilowatts to megawatts, but their scalability and costs are currently limited by expensive materials. Our innovative idea focuses on the use of cheaper, more environmentally friendly materials for protective layers on steel interconnectors of oxide fuel cells. Currently used materials contain cobalt, a raw material that is difficult to obtain and often mined unethically. Our mission is to replace cobalt with equivalent, available alternatives, which will enable the further development of fuel cell and electrolyzer technologies.

GreenTech.place (formerly: SUITS)

SUITS is a micro-generation project helping businesses, developers and citizens to integrate innovative solutions for renewable energy generation. Our project provides you with the most appropriate types of technology and helps you keep track of energy usage information. We help developers integrate energy efficient solutions into the public space by improving projects by offering the most efficient and innovative technologies for the local context.
