The publication slot, or unit share, is a measure of the author's contribution to the publication. A publication with one authorship will fill 1 entire slot, while in the case of multi-authored publications, this share should be calculated.

For each person included in the N number, there are a maximum of 4 publication slots that will be reported. During the evaluation, all publications may be submitted by the author and the slots will be filled in the most favorable way. Please note that 4 slots will only be allocated to an employee who worked full-time in one discipline throughout the entire evaluation period. In other cases, the number of slots per employee will have to be adjusted by the product of the working time and the share of working time in a given discipline and will be 4 times the average product of the working time and the work contribution in individual years.

Example:
Jan K. worked part-time (3/4 of permanent employment) in 2022-2023, and became a full-time employee in 2024-2025. Discipline A accounted for 50% of his working time. The publication slots in discipline A for this employee are calculated as follows:

[(¾ x 0.5 + ¾ x 0.5 + 1 x 0.5 + 1 x 0.5)/4] x 4 = 1.75 slot

of which no more than 2 times the average value of the product of working time and work contribution in a given scientific discipline may be allocated to scientific monographs whose total point value is not more than 120 points, scientific editorial offices of such monographs and chapters in such monographs;
if this value is less than 1, it takes the value equal to 1.

A university may submit for evaluation no more than 3xN unit shares in scientific publications within one discipline, but the sum of the unit shares cannot:

  • exceed 20% of 3 times the N number for works by persons not classified as N,
  • exceed 20% of 3 times the number of N for monographs whose total point value is not more than 120 points, and scientific editions of such monographs from disciplines in the field of humanities, social sciences and theological sciences,
  • exceed 5% of 3 times the number of N for monographs whose total point value is not more than 120 points, and scientific editions of such monographs from disciplines in other fields of science.
