Project title: Solidarity with Ukraine
As part of the Project, an adaptation course was organized for candidates/students from Ukraine. Its main goal was to support young people from Ukraine in overcoming various difficulties resulting from the sudden need to start/continue studies at a Polish university. The adaptation course was to allow students to acquire language competencies and compensate for curriculum differences in mathematics and physics necessary to study at Gdańsk University of Technology. The program of course also included classes introducing Polish culture and seminars on dealing with culture shock, as well as ensuring the availability of a psychologist.
The adaptation course consisted of: Polish language classes (with particular emphasis on the academic language to the extent that enables effective participation in the education process), compensatory classes in mathematics, compensatory classes in physics and physical education classes. In addition, course participants participated in meetings on Polish culture and intercultural integration (part of which were visits to the Museum of the Second World War and the European Solidarity Center in Gdańsk). As part of psychological support, students/candidates from Ukraine took part in seminars on dealing with crisis situations. Throughout the course, participants also had access to individual consultations with a psychologist.
A total of 23 students/candidates from Ukraine benefited from the adaptation course organized as part of the Project.
