Project title: Developing the internationalization process at Gdańsk Tech through competency training for administrative staff and implementation of organizational improvements.
Description: The workshops hosted from March to May 2019 aimed at developing a model for solving problems of internationalization, and addressed the needs of Gdańsk Tech administrative staff, international students and lecturers that correspond to the university's internationalization process. The most important issues concerned the communication barrier (language and culture) and the lack of equal access to information for all members of the academic community, including international students. In response to those needs, the project focused on developing the process at Gdańsk Tech, including organization of training on the development of intercultural and language competence, development and implementation of Gdańsk Tech internal documents in two language versions and adjustment of the university’s internal website, MojaPG, to meet the needs of foreigners.
The tasks will be directed at two target groups: Gdańsk Tech support staff, who assist international students and lecturers, as well as the students and lecturers coming from abroad who study/teach in English. Project activities will involve the following entities: International Relations Office, Student Affairs Office, Language Centre, IT Services Centre and ESN Gdańsk, support staff will gain competencies and tools that will enable them to effectively assist international students, while students and lecturers will receive organizational support which is crucial when they adapt to a new environment. The most important benefits of the Project include: building a stronger relationship between the members of the academic community and integrating the activities of different Gdańsk Tech units to better support international students and lecturers.
