A student who is coming to Poland for more than 30 days needs to register her/his residence in one of the City Hall branches. In case of the citizens of EU or EFTA countries (Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein or Switzerland) - there are 30 days to do the registration. Other international students need to register their residence in Poland within 4 days after arrival.
Procedure
The application required to register your residence (officially referred to as Zgłoszenie pobytu tymczasowego – Temporary Stay Registration) needs to be submitted in person to one of the Resident Service Teams (Zespół Obsługi Mieszkańców) of the City Hall in Gdańsk. There are two points located not far away from Gdańsk University of Technology (within the distance of a few tram stops):
- Resident Service Team no. 1 at Partyzantów 74 in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz (check the map),
- Resident Service Team no. 3 at Nowe Ogrody 8-12 in Gdańsk Główny (check the map).
To submit the application, you can use an online form to make an appointment.
Required documents:
1. application form - completed and signed
- in case of a student living in the dormitory - application must be confirmed by the dormitory administration staff
- in case of a student living in private apartment - application must be confirmed by the landlord/owner of the flat + rental agreement (must by in Polish)
- in case of a person living in a hotel - application must be confirmed by an authorized person from the hotel
2. valid passport/identity card (which you need to show for inspection).
Additionally students who are not citizens of EU or EFTA countries have to present a document confirming their legal stay in Poland (visa or resident card, alternatively a stamp in a passport confirming the submission of documents for Temporary Resident Card) during the registration meeting.
