GUT receives financing for the implementation of the project ‘Innovation Incubator 4.0’

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has announced the ranking list of 32 applications that qualified for funding under the ‘Innovation Incubator 4.0’ program. This edition of the program will be implemented by the Center for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at GUT in a consortium with the special purpose vehicle Excento.

The main goal of the program is to support the management of the results of research and development work, mainly in the field of commercialization. One of the conditions for applying for funding was to be active in the commercialization of the results of research and development work and to initiate cooperation between the scientific community and the business environment. The implementation of the program is to contribute to the promotion of scientific achievements, increasing their impact on the development of innovation and strengthening cooperation between the scientific community and the economic environment.

The Innovation Incubator 4.0 at Gdańsk University of Technology will be implemented by the end of 2022, and each of the projects submitted to the program may receive funding up to 100 000 PLN. Below there is a list of activities that can be financed from the project:

1. conducting pre-implementation works, including additional laboratory tests or adapting the invention to the needs of the interested buyer, the cost of which cannot exceed PLN 100 000 PLN;

2.      preparation of projects for the commercialization of the results of scientific research and development works, including in particular the analysis of the market potential of inventions and the analysis of their readiness for implementation, as well as the valuation of industrial property rights;

3.      initiating and strengthening cooperation between the scientific community and the economic environment, including searching for entities interested in implementing the results of scientific research and development works, by promoting the technological offer and participating in ‘science to business’ exhibitions and fairs;

4.      technology portfolio management, including in particular:

  • monitoring and analysing the results of scientific research or development work in terms of their practical usefulness,
  • analyses of market needs to select topics of scientific research or development work and research on the state of the art of technology before starting research or work,
  •   keeping a database of research projects underway, the results achieved and the possibility of their application in practice,
  •  analyses of the possibility of obtaining patent protection and the possibility of commercialising the results of scientific research and development works before their publication;

The Innovation Incubator program is financed by European funds as part of the project ‘Support for the management of scientific research and commercialization of R&D results in research units and enterprises’, implemented under the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020.
