Prof. Barbara Wikieł, member of the Pomeranian Education Council
The Pomeranian Education Council was established in 2014 and for many years operated as the only such council in Poland with a provincial scope.
The aim of the Council is to issue opinions on the basic directions of educational policy in the region. Socialization of the process of making key decisions in the area of education is an element of the educational dialogue conducted in the region. This dialogue, and the related development of cooperation between various institutions and educational environments, serve to improve the educational cohesion of the region, and thus contribute to raising the quality of Pomeranian education.
The currently operating Pomeranian Education Council has 35 members, and its chairman is Marshal Mieczysław Struk. Representatives of various environments have been invited to work on the Council, including persons representing school principals, students and parents, as well as local government authorities, trade unions, non-governmental organizations, employer organizations, the academic community and the media. The Council meetings are also visited by invited guests who are experts in areas related to the topics discussed. 18 Council meetings have been held so far.
