The call for applications in the "Grants for Young Researchers" competition at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Gdańsk University of Technology starts on January 15 this year, with a maximum funding amount of up to 17,000 PLN.

The aim of the competition is to support young researchers by enabling the implementation of ambitious and original research projects, contributing to an increase in publication output, improving the efficiency of applying for external research grants, enhancing the quality of academic teaching, and increasing their impact on Poland's social and economic development.

Faculty of Chemistry and Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics Branch Library now has two modern acoustic chairs. They provide comfort and reduce noise, making them perfect for studying, working, or relaxing. With a movable screen and sound-absorbing materials, they offer privacy and peace.

The branch also has a relaxation area with comfy beanbags – a great place to relax or read a book in a friendly space.

OPEN UP! DARE TO! is the slogan of the new intercultural skills development program for employees, PhD candidates, and students of Gdańsk University of Technology. The program includes a film screening, a meeting with a philologist as well as meetings with local cultural institutions. The first event will be held on February 10th – registration now open. The program is organized by the International Relations Office.
  • Why are we afraid to speak English? And why do we focus so much on accents?
  • What does Gdańsk look like through the eyes of newcomers?
  • Can we counteract discrimination? What is the “Yes, BUT…” campaign in Gdańsk about?
  • How does culture – music, art, literature – bring people together? How is this done in Gdańsk?

These and many other questions will be addressed by guests and participants of the OPEN UP! DARE TO! program, which will launch soon at Gdańsk University of Technology.

Cooperation within the IEA SHC TCP Program: Open Seminar at Gdańsk University of Technology
On January 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, an informational seminar will take place at the Hydromechanics Building of the Gdańsk University of Technology.

The event will focus on opportunities for collaboration within the framework of the International Energy Agency (IEA) – Solar Heating and Cooling Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA SHC TCP). The seminar aims to present ongoing projects and discuss prospects for cooperation.

Representatives from the Ministry of Climate and Environment as well as international experts will participate in the seminar.

Results of the 8th edition of Actinium supporting the most talented candidates program

The funds granted under the second edition of the program constitute scholarships for particularly talented, based on the achievements obtained at the previous educational stage, students beginning full-time studies of the first or second degree at Gdansk University of Technology.
Based on the ranking list of evaluated applications presented by the Evaluation Committee, the Rector of Gdansk University of Technology awarded:
- 14 ACTINIUM scholarships for first-cycle students who scored a minimum of 67.5 points;

The next call for applications for the PROM mobility program – short-term academic exchange – will open in January. Interested employees, PhD students, and students can start preparing necessary documents for their application submission now.

As a reminder, last autumn, the International Relations Office, in collaboration with the Doctoral School and faculties, obtained nearly PLN 2 million from the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) to implement the PROM project. This funding will enable around 180 employees, PhD students, and students from Gdańsk Tech to receive financial support for international trips, while 80 individuals from foreign universities will receive funds for visits to Gdańsk.

New term of office of the Gdańsk University of Technology Council for the years 2025-2028

The new term of office of the Gdańsk University of Technology Council began on 1 January 2025. The Council consists of seven members elected by the Gdańsk University of Technology Senate. The composition of the Council for the term 2025-2028 was selected by the Senate of Gdańsk University of Technology during its meeting on 13 November 2024.  

The University Council is a collegial body of Gdańsk University of Technology, operating since 2019. The term lasts four years. It is composed of five Tri-City entrepreneurs, a scientist from Gdańsk University of Technology and the chairman of the Student Government.
