Call for applications for the 2nd Polonium International Doctoral Fellowships

Polonium
The Polonium International Doctoral Fellowships program is an element of the implementation of the tasks of IDUB program in the scope of improvement of the quality of education of students and doctoral students, especially in fields and scientific disciplines related to the priority research areas (PRA) of the university, Measure III.2. The aim of the Polonium program is to increase the effectiveness of the university in attracting the most talented candidates from outside Poland to study at the PhD School at the Gdansk University of Technology.

Recipients of the scholarship

Applications for the supplementary scholarship may only be submitted by: 
a) foreigners,
b) people of Polish citizenship, 

  • who have completed at least one full cycle of higher education studies (I and/or II degree) outside Poland, have been accepted to the Doctoral School and are beginning their first year of studies. The supplementary scholarship cannot be awarded to a person who, prior to commencement of studies at the Doctoral School, was a doctoral student within the doctoral studies conducted at the departments of the University.

Funding conditions 

  • The scholarship in the program amounts to maximum PLN 5 000 gross per month and is granted for the period of maximum 24 months, with the possibility of extending it to maximum 48 months. 
  • The  scholarship  payment may begin only after the competition has been adjudicated and the candidate is awarded the status of a doctoral student, i.e. after the candidate arrives in Poland, presents the original documents constituting the basis for enrolment in the school, takes the oath and makes declarations necessary for the payment of the stipend and is entered on the list of doctoral students.
  • The scholarship is subject to personal income tax, however it is not subject to social security contributions.
  • The  scholarship  is in addition to the doctoral scholarship.
  • The  scholarship will be paid only by transfer to the account indicated by the student in the computer system of the university MojaPG.

Call for recruitment

The program will be open for applications from December 14, 2021 to January 16, 2022, 11.59 p.m.  The date and time the email is received at francium@pg.edu.pl will count.

How to apply?

  • The application should include: a cover letter with a short research plan (max. 1500 words).
  • The application should be reviewed by the Applicant's supervisor or promoter before submission.
  • Applications (with required signatures) should be submitted in electronic version (pdf format) to the Doctoral School Office at the address polonium@pg.edu.pl. In the subject line of the email, please indicate the name of the program: POLONIUM and the first and last name, year and abbreviation of the discipline of study. Applications sent to other email address of the school will not be considered.
