Race to Zero campaign plan of Gdansk Tech

Race to Zero
The Race to Zero campaign was launched in 2020 by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The aim of this global initiative is to unite business leaders, cities, regions, investors and educational and research institutions in the pursuit of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 at the latest. Since the launch of the campaign, the number of Race to Zero members has grown dynamically. Currently, the campaign brings together 13.5 thousand participants from various sectors and regions of the world (as of July 2024). There are approximately 10,000 members among them. companies (including 7 thousand from the SME sector), 52 regions, over 1 thousand cities, 1.1 thousand educational institutions and numerous non-governmental organizations. They have all committed to taking concrete action to achieve net zero emissions and promote sustainability in their organizations.

Gdańsk University of Technology in Race to Zero

Gdańsk University of Technology is actively involved in the Race to Zero campaign, which joined in July 2023, taking a number of actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions through, among others: implementation of the tasks included in Climate Plan and in the Strategy for the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Social Responsibility of the University. We strive to make the Gdansk Tech campus not only a friendly and green place on the Tricity map for students, employees and city residents, but also to be efficient in terms of energy, heat and water consumption.
