Honorable Mention of the PAS for young scientists for the best creative work published in 2020

We are pleased to announce that Joanna Pilch, MSc.,Eng. carrying out her doctoral thesis at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biochemistry (supervisor Dr. Ewa Augustin), received an Honorable Mention in the field of biological and agricultural sciences in this year's competition of the Polish Academy of Sciences for young scientists for the best creative work published in 2020.

The award was granted for the work entitled: "New unsymmetrical bisacridine derivatives noncovalently attached to quaternary quantum dots improve cancer therapy via enhancing cytotoxicity towards cancer cells and protecting normal cells”, Pilch J., Matysiak-Brynda E., Kowalczyk A., Bujak P., Mazerska Z., Nowicka A. M., Augustin E, ACS Applied Material & Interfaces, 2020, 12, 15: 17276-17289; Q1; IF=8,758, MNiSW 200.

Joanna Pilch MSc., Eng. focuses on researching the possibility of using nanoparticles as drug delivery system to the cells. Currently, she is the principal investigator of the project financed by the National Science Center (PRELUDIUM). For this project, she was nominated for the Scientist of the Future 2021 award in the category "Science for a better life in the future", awarded by the Center for Intelligent Development.
