[4th-5th-year PhD students] Completion of training at the Doctoral School and potential extensions
We are approaching the end of the four-year PhD training period at the Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology - in 2024 for PhD students who started their PhD training in AY. 2020/2021.
According to the PSWiN Law:
Article 204, paragraph 1: The education of a doctoral candidate is completed by submitting a doctoral dissertation along with a positive opinion from the supervisor or supervisors.
We would like to remind you that on January 31, 2024, a meeting between the School Authorities and the 3rd and 4th year PhD students regarding the completion of their training was held.
4th-year PhD students who will not apply for an extension of their PhD training must submit their dissertation before the deadline indicated in the Individual Research Proposal, no later than 30.09.2024 (Monday) as well as participate in the doctoral exam by 21.06.2024 (Friday).
4th-5th-year PhD students who still do not have their dissertation ready and, according to their Individual Research Proposal (IRP), the deadline for submission of the dissertation is approaching, must apply for an extension of the deadline for submission of the dissertation (eDocument). The application should be submitted no later than 15.07.2024 (Monday), unless the PhD student has indicated an earlier date in his IRP (in which case the application should be submitted as soon as possible).
The Doctoral School Office has enabled the possibility for a PhD student to self-assign an eDocument in the Moja PG system: Application for extension of deadline for submission of doctoral dissertation.
5th-year PhD students who are already on extension must submit a report on their research progress (eDocument) from the date of their last extension no later than June 30, 2024 (Sunday) before submitting their dissertation, or applying for another extension.

Issuance by the Doctoral School of a certificate of achievement of learning outcomes for a qualification of level 8 of the Polish Qualification Framework in a particular discipline, necessary for the submission of a doctoral dissertation. NOTE: All PhD students are responsible for making sure that they have passed all courses and other training elements required by the curriculum (including the doctoral exam) -> link to Helpdesk (CUI) instructions. Submission of the doctoral dissertation with a positive opinion of the supervisor(s) and confirmation of this fact to the School Office. Confirmation of the submission of the dissertation may be a copy of the letter addressed to the Discipline Council / Field Council on the initiation of proceedings for the award of the doctoral degree or a copy of the first page of the dissertation. Templates for the above-mentioned documents can be found on the Doctoral School's website under the tab: PhD Students -> Formalities -> Download materials -> Templates (access after logging in) in section II.1. After filling out the document templates, the PhD student attaches them to the corresponding eDocuments. Submission of documents to the School Office is carried out in the Moja PG > Student > eDocuments system after approval by the PhD student and, in addition, the supervisor and discipline coordinator. NOTE: Please do not wait with the completion of the documents until the deadline, but submit the documents to the system as soon as possible. The date for sending eDocuments should be agreed with the supervisor to take into account his availability to accept the documents by the required date -> see date below. |

NOTE: Please do not wait with the completion of the documents until the deadline, but submit the documents to the system as soon as possible. The date for sending eDocuments should be agreed with the supervisor to take into account his availability to accept the documents by the required date -> see date below. In case of failing to pass the doctoral exam on the first date - PhD students will be able to submit an application only after 15.09.2024. Submission of documents is mandatory.
NOTE: Failure to meet the indicated deadlines may result in dismissal of the PhD student from the doctoral school.
Forwarding, obtaining signatures of decision-makers and approval of eDocuments in the Doctoral School is done in Moja PG -> Student -> eDocuments system.
