AI
Over PLN 50 million will be allocated to the creation of a model of system education for high-class specialists in artificial intelligence, machine learning and cybersecurity. On 19 January an agreement was signed for co-financing the project ‘Academy of Innovative Applications of Digital Technologies’ under the Operational Program Digital Poland for 2014-2020.

The project is carried out as part of a consortium of five universities: Gdańsk University of Technology, Poznań University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, the University of Poznań and the University of Warsaw. The project manager at our university is PhD, DSc, Eng. Piotr Szczuko, GUT professor from the ETI Faculty.

The creation of a model of system education of high-class specialists in the field of AI, machine learning and cybersecurity will be possible thanks to close cooperation between universities, central administration and leading companies operating in the field of digital technologies.

As part of the project, second-cycle studies will be carried out in the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning and cybersecurity. There are also plans to develop national and international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning and cybersecurity;

Substantive care over the project is provided by the AI Tech Program Council at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. Its member is PhD, DSc, Eng. Jacek Rumiński, professor at GUT, head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

The project is addressed to two target groups: universities that will benefit from support in the implementation of developed solutions and participants of the newly created full-time second-cycle studies.

The developed solution will be implemented on a large scale in 2021-27 by various academic centers, including those with less experience in the field of teaching in the above-mentioned areas. Moreover, as a result of the Project implementation, a group of university students will gain advanced skills in the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning and cybersecurity.

Students who will start their studies at Gdańsk University of Technology this academic year in new specializations, created under the Project - Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, will be provided with close cooperation with high-class specialists and scientists, lectures by world-class experts, internships and visits to companies and units involved in the development of AI, financed trips to international conferences, summer schools, etc., as well as individual substantive care of scientific and teaching staff.
