Call for applications under Individual Research Studies and the RADIUM program

Individual research studies (IRS) make it possible to create individual learning paths for the most talented students of second-cycle (MSc) studies related to their research as part of research projects. Under the RADIUM Program, it is possible to obtain a university grant to finance the costs of research conducted by second-cycle MSc) students as part of Individual Research Studies.  

IRS and the RADIUM program are part of the implementation of EIRU tasks in the field of improving the quality of education of students and doctoral students, in particular in fields and disciplines related to priority research areas of the university, Action III.1. (Modification of the education system at the first and second cycle studies).

The implementation of IRS and the RADIUM program is planned from the academic year 2021/2022.

Addressees of the program

A second-cycle student may apply for the competition on their own or may be submitted, e.g. by a dean, mentor, tutor or project manager of the project in which he or she has participated or is currently participating.

Eligibility criteria

The Evaluation Committee takes into account the following criteria when assessing IRS applications:

  1. achievements confirming the involvement so far in research activities, e.g.
  2. publications, participation / papers at conferences, participation in research projects,
  3. activity in research clubs,
  4. grade for the thesis / diploma project,
  5. grade point average for first-cycle studies,
  6. recommendations / letters of recommendation,
  7. cover letter,
  8. interview.

Budget and financing conditions

The maximum amount of funding for a research project is PLN 24,000 gross, and its implementation period is no longer than 10 months.

The condition for participation in the RADIUM Program is the Applicant's prior approval of the Vice-Rector for Education for the implementation of the IRS, in accordance with the Regulations of individual research studies.

What categories of costs can be planned under the project?

As part of the grants awarded as a result of the competition, the following may be financed:

  • costs of purchase of small laboratory equipment, materials necessary for research, perishable materials, including reagents,
  • costs of IT equipment and software necessary for the implementation of research,
  • external services necessary for the implementation of research,
  • costs related to the dissemination of research, including in particular travel and accommodation costs, publication fees, costs of participation in conferences.

How to apply

The application for IRS is submitted electronically at isb@pg.edu.pl from 26 April until 21 May 2021, till 23:59.

Applications should be sent from the student account (@ student.pg.edu.pl). The original of the application should be submitted to the vice-rector for education.

The call for proposals under the RADIUM program will last from 26 April until 18 June 2021, till 23:59. Applications should be submitted electronically at radium@pg.edu.pl.

The submitted applications are assessed by the Evaluation Committee appointed by the rector. The final decision to award the grant will be made by the rector
