Become a Startup Mentor – Join the ENHANCE+ Mentor Workshops in Warsaw

On 29–30 June 2026, the ENHANCE+ Mentor Workshops will take place in Warsaw as part of the WP5 work package. The event is designed for current and prospective mentors interested in supporting startup teams and founders within an international academic entrepreneurship environment.

The workshops will focus on two key topics:

Development of energy infrastructure in Pomerania. Expert debate at Gdańsk Tech

On Monday, 15 June, another debate on the development of Pomerania was held at the Gdańsk University of Technology. The discussions focused on the region’s energy infrastructure and were attended by the Gdańsk Tech Rector’s team of economic advisers, comprising representatives from government, academia and the business sector.

In collaboration with the Pomeranian Employers and the Baltic Energy Transformation Institute, a new series of debates has been launched at the Gdańsk University of Technology under the collective title: ‘The Pomeranian Voivodeship as a hub for Poland’s development in the Baltic Sea region’. The first of these meetings, held at the end of March, was devoted to energy transformation as a driver of development in Pomerania.

Professor Edward Szczerbicki has won the prestigious KES International Award

Professor Edward Szczerbicki from the Faculty of Management and Economics has been awarded the prestigious ‘Award for Outstanding Contribution to KES’, presented by KES International to individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the international academic community focused on knowledge transfer, intelligent systems and knowledge-based engineering.

The award was presented in 2026 to mark the 30th anniversary edition of the ‘International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information and Engineering Systems’ — KES 2026. The award highlights both Professor Edward Szczerbicki’s outstanding academic achievements and his long-standing, consistent commitment to developing the international KES research and academic network.

Young researchers awarded for their publications

Four researchers from the Gdańsk University of Technology have become winners of the 11th edition of the Competition for the Gdańsk Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences Award for young scientists for the best professional publication in 2025. The awards and distinctions are presented to researchers from the region whose publications have been recognised for their high academic quality and significant contribution to the development of their respective disciplines.

The main prize in technical sciences was awarded to Beata Zima, PhD, DSc, Eng., Professor at Gdańsk Tech from the Institute of Naval Architecture at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology for the publication 'Guided ultrasonic wave technique for corrosion monitoring and thickness variability analysis', Measurement 245 (2025) 116584.

The KORAB Research Club returns from the competition with a gold medal

The KORAB Research Club team has returned from the competition with great success. For the second time in a row, the team secured first place in the overall standings of the prestigious International Waterbike Regatta, a major international student competition, beating teams from across Europe.

The 2026 International Waterbike Regatta took place in Rostock, Germany.

"It was the Rektor waterbike that secured our victory. During the three-day competition, which included tests of speed, manoeuvrability and pulling power, the design proved to be unrivalled," emphasised the students.

Theater tour Does every scene have stage barrels and curtains? Who is a stage manager? What does the theater basement hide? We invite everyone interested in the backstage of the theater to take a tour of The Main Stage in Gdańsk.

The sightseeing route includes, among others: auditorium, stage, historic walls and make-up room.

The duration of the tour is approximately 90 minutes.

Performances with surtitles in English

A rocket by Gdańsk Tech students ranking among the best in the world

Students from the Gdańsk University of Technology came fourth in the world and second among Polish teams at the FAR-OUT 2026 international rocket competition in the USA. Their R7 Orzeł rocket, developed as part of the SimBa rocket programme run by members of the SimLE Research Club, was successfully launched in California’s Mojave Desert and was fully recovered after the flight.

R7 Orzeł is a rocket over four metres long capable of reaching an altitude of three kilometres. The structure was entirely designed and built by students of the Gdańsk University of Technology. It is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, original avionics and a state-of-the-art ground station.
