Miejska Miedza at the Gdańsk University of Technology. New habitats for wild pollinators are being created on the campus

Bee
Can a technical university campus become a site for nature conservation and biodiversity research? At the Gdańsk University of Technology, the answer is a resounding yes. A project entitled ‘Establishment of semi-natural meadows on the Gdańsk University of Technology campus as habitats for pollinators and a biodiversity research site’ is being implemented on the campus. It aims to create new habitats for wild pollinating insects and to develop green infrastructure that supports education and scientific activity.

The project is being carried out as part of the Miejska Miedza (Urban Baulk) initiative and has received funding from the Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk. The subsidy amounted to PLN 20,000 and covered all the eligible costs of the project.

URWIS - a student-built water drone designed to support rescue teams

urwis
Students at Gdańsk University of Technology are developing an unmanned surface vessel designed to support rescue services during operations at sea, on lakes and other bodies of water. URWIS is intended to reach people in need of assistance faster than rescue personnel and deliver a flotation device, increasing their chances of remaining safely afloat until a rescue team arrives.

The project is being developed by students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdańsk Tech: Maksym Domkowski, Julian Baron and Łukasz Gede-Niewiadomski.

Invitation to Participate in a Study on the Experiences of Women Engineers

meeting
A research team from RWTH Aachen University invites women to participate in a qualitative online study exploring the experiences of women in engineering. The aim of the project is to better understand how women engineers experience their professional and academic environments.

The study is open to women who are currently working as engineers, studying engineering, or who have left the field during their studies or professional careers. The survey consists of three theory-based questions and one open-ended question. Participants can complete it at their own pace, pausing and returning to it whenever they wish. As the study takes a European perspective, all responses should be provided in English.
