Types of nuclear reactors
On January 22, 2025, a scientific and technical seminar "Small and Medium Power Nuclear Reactors – An Alternative to Large-Scale Nuclear Power or Its Complement?" took place.

The event was organized by the Vice-Rector for Development, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. Justyna Kucińska-Lipka, a professor at Gdańsk University of Technology, and the Director of the Nuclear Energy Center, Prof. Waldemar Kamrat, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. The seminar was held under the patronage of the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng., a Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).

One of the key points of the event was signing of a partnership agreement between EC Będzin S.A. and Gdańsk University of Technology. The collaboration, carried out within the framework of the Nuclear Energy Center at Gdańsk University of Technology, will focus on promoting the development of energy technologies for applications in heating and power generation, with particular emphasis on Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies.

The following presentations were delivered during the seminar:

  1. "Nuclear Reactors for District Heating Systems" – Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Nuclear Energy, Dr. Marcin Jaskólski, Eng.
  2. "Collaboration between Gdańsk University of Technology and EC Będzin SA in the Field of Nuclear Energy" – Director of the Nuclear Energy Center, Prof. Waldemar Kamrat, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng.
  3. "Presentation of EC Będzin S.A." – President of the Board of EC Będzin S.A., Marcin Chodkowski
  4. "Actions Focused on a Low-Emission Economy" – Director of the Nuclear Energy Center, Prof. Waldemar Kamrat, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng.

The last presentation initiated a debate involving invited guests and staff members of Gdańsk University of Technology.
