Applying for the award of the doctoral degree - pathway in brief
- for candidates who have completed their education at the doctoral school >>>
- for candidates who have prepared a dissertation in the extramural mode, including ones who started doctoral studies before the 2019/2020 academic year >>>
1. A candidate who prepared a dissertation in the mode of doctoral student education at a doctoral school submits an application to the Council selected for the award of the doctoral degree
The application for initiating the procedure involves:
- a copy of the document confirming possession of the professional title or diploma
- a confirmation of obtaining the learning outcomes for qualifications at level 8 of PQF
- a doctoral dissertation
- positive opinion of the supervisor or supervisors
- a list of scientific works, creative professional works or artistic achievements
2. Resolutions of the Council (Senate) concerning appointment of reviewers of the doctoral dissertation, appointment of the doctoral committee, appointment of the committee for the doctoral examination
3. Candidate's doctoral examination in the discipline of the conducted research (in doctoral schools before the initiation of proceedings)
4. Reviews conducted within 2 months of the assignment
5. Council - admitting to public defense of the doctoral dissertation, publication of the dissertation (together with the abstract and reviews) in the BIP and in the POL-on System, notification of other universities about the date and place of defense
6. Open meeting of the Council/Doctoral Committee - public defense with discussion
7. Resolution on awarding the doctoral degree
Based on Regulations specifying the procedure for awarding the degree of doctor and the detailed procedure for awarding the degree of habilitated doctor, introduced by Gdańsk Tech Senate Resolution No. 433/2020 / XXIV of 11 March 2020 and Gdańsk Tech Senate resolution No. 86/2021 / XXV of 10 February 2021
Procedure for carrying out activities in the habilitation proceedings

- the postdoctoral researcher submits an application to the University via the SEC to initiate habilitation proceedings (the application must contain the elements listed in Art. 220, sec. 2 of the Act)
- the Council - appointment of the habilitation committee
- reviews conducted within 8 weeks from the date of delivery of the application
- the candidate is notified of the habilitation colloquium at least 14 days before the established date of the committee meeting
- the Council - adoption of a resolution to grant the degree on the basis of the resolution of the habilitation committee
- the Council - publication in the BIP of the proceedings in question and in the POL-on System
