Gdańsk University of Technology is among the fifteen Polish universities on the prestigious list of the best universities in the world - QS World University Rankings 2021. It included eighty countries, evaluated five thousand universities, yet only one thousand of the best universities entered the main list.

QS World University Ranking is prepared every year by the British company Quacquarelli Symmonds, which edits publications on education and studying abroad. This is one of the four most important global educational rankings next to Times Higher Education (where Gdańsk University of Technology was the only technical university in Poland in 2019), the Shanghai Ranking and U-Multirank.

Gdańsk University of Technology for the second time took the place in the 801-1000 range, slightly improving its total result from 11.7 points obtained in the 2020 edition to 12.8 in 2021. Similarly to last year's edition of the ranking, the best GUT result was achieved in the field of ‘Faculty Student Ratio’.

The highest place among Polish universities was taken by the University of Warsaw, which ranked 321, followed by the Warsaw University of Technology with the place in the middle of the ranking. In the same range as Gdańsk University of Technology, there were also the other twelve Polish universities. The podium was dominated by American universities: MIT, Stanford and Harvard, right behind them, came the British University of Oxford.
