GUT in the Shanghai ranking of scientific disciplines 2020 | Gdańsk University of Technology

In the GRAS 2020 ranking Gdańsk University of Technology was classified in three disciplines belonging to one area / field - Engineering: civil engineering, chemical engineering and electrical and electronic engineering.

GUT obtained the highest score in the Civil Engineering discipline with 23.3 points, which is also the best result among Polish universities participating in the ranking. It secured GUT in this discipline a position in the range of 201-300 in the world ranking.

In addition to civil engineering, GUT has also been classified in two other disciplines: Chemical Engineering (18 points) and Electrical & Electronic Engineering (16.7 points), obtaining in both cases the positions in the world in the range of 401-500 and the second result among Polish universities.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University began publishing the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), i.e. the so-called Shanghai ranking by academic subjects in 2009. The ranking is divided into 54 categories / disciplines, covering natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical and social sciences. When creating the ranking, several factors are taken into account, including the number of scientific publications and their citations in the given field, the participation of foreign authors in the unit's publications, the number of articles published in the most important scientific journals and the number of employees who received a significant award in the given field. In total, over four thousand universities were included in the ranking.
