GUT experts in the RSP development team for Pomerania

PhD Barbara Wikieł, GUT professor, the director of the Mathematics Teaching and Distance Learning Centre at Gdańsk University of Technology and PhD Magdalena Popowska from the Faculty of Management and Economics were invited to participate in the work of the team of experts that deals with the development of the Regional Strategic Program of the Pomeranian Voivodeship in the field of education and social capital.

PhD Wikieł has been cooperating with the educational and local government community of Pomerania in the field of education for many years. She has also been cooperating with the self-government of the Pomeranian Voivodeship for several years. She was a member of the Pomeranian Consulting Council for Supporting Gifted Students, since 2016 she has been a member of the Educational Cohesion Team at the Pomeranian Educational Council. In 2009-2014, she also participated in the works of the Gdańsk Educational Council.

PhD Popowska at the Faculty of Management and Economics was responsible for exchange programs, double degrees and other internationalization activities. She also conducts research mainly on entrepreneurship, social responsibility and corporate governance. A few months ago, PhD Popowska was engaged to work on the 2030 Pomeranian Voivodeship Development Strategy in the field of strengthening the economic brand of the region [more - HERE].

The self-government of the Pomeranian Voivodeship is currently working on projects of six Regional Strategic Programs (RSPs), which are tools for the implementation of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Development Strategy 2030. Experts from key areas, whose topics are discussed in the document, were involved in the process of developing RSP in the field of education and social capital. Representatives of the voivodship self-government cooperate in the program with representatives of entities operating in the field of education, culture, non-governmental organizations, as well as employers' associations and the academic community, represented by PhD Wikieł and PhD Popowska.

In a letter from the Marshal's Office to the rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, it was emphasized that the involvement of representatives of our university in the work on the RSP will be of significant importance for the direction of the self-government of the Pomeranian Voivodeship’s policy for the years 2021-2030 in the area of shaping the key competences of Pomeranian students, equalizing educational opportunities, building the system of vocational counseling and coordinating the development of vocational education, as well as development of the staff of the education system and broadening educational dialogue in the region.
