The Fahrenheit University Association - a joint IT strategy for university management | Gdańsk University of Technology

The agreement signed by prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology and prof. Piotr Stepnowski, rector of the University of Gdańsk, covers the joint definition and development of an IT model for university management along with the construction of appropriate IT tools, which at the same time meet the standards of compatibility with IT elements of other cooperating and supervising units.

The meeting was also attended by prof. Jacek Bigda, vice-rector for the development and organization of education at the Medical University of Gdańsk and the chancellors of three universities: Marek Langowski (MUG), Mariusz Miler (GUT) and Jacek Jętczak (UG).

­ – No public university can provide education services without a reliable and secure IT infrastructure, therefore, as part of the Daniel Fahrenheit Association of Universities in Gdańsk, we intend to undertake long-term cooperation in this area also with other universities - says prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of GUT.

As part of the first stage of cooperation at the University of Gdańsk, an IT system will be created to manage the university in the areas of science and research, as well as didactics and education, based on solutions functioning at GUT (eUniversity system).

– I am convinced that under this agreement we will significantly accelerate further modernization and development of the IT infrastructure, as well as the processes of progressive computerization of our university - emphasized prof. Piotr Stepnowski, rector of the University of Gdańsk.

Gdańsk University of Technology, in addition to granting the University of Gdańsk a license to its eUniversity program, will also coordinate the implementation of the system. Both universities, together with the Medical University of Gdańsk, will soon take steps to implement further joint IT systems.

The Daniel Fahrenheit Union of Universities in Gdańsk was appointed at the joint request of the rectors of the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk. The most important task of the Association is to make the best use of the resources and possibilities of all three universities which, through joint activities, could create one academic center in the future.
