Architecture graduate is a laureate of the national competition "Play green"
The key task in the project was to design an interior that would function in symbiosis with the greenery introduced into it. It could have any function or it could be just a separate fragment, where the tone is imposed by the green. The jury expected unconventional design solutions combining interior architecture with various types of vegetation, and with properly selected lighting both during the day and after sunset.
The jury consisting of well-known and respected architects, designers and lighting specialists qualified 6 works for the finals of the competition.
A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture, M.Sc. Arch. Paweł Kańgowski received the 1st Award for the work entitled "Designer's Hub - a green alternative to office building."
Jury’s opinion: “The prize was awarded for creating a successful symbiosis of greenery with a large cubature of an office building situated in the urban fabric of Milan. In large cities, the creation of such urban gardens, green facades of large office buildings is a very important element that purifies the air in urban structures and brings tangible benefits to the employees of these offices. The award was granted both for the elegance of architectural and material solutions, as well as the creative use of greenery in the composition of the entire body of the building."
The awarded project is a distinguished master's thesis carried out under the supervision of PhD, Eng. Arch. Karolina Zielińska-Dąbkowska entitled: “Up:cycling Architecture. The issue of buildings ’obsolescence and the re-use strategy as a key-element at designing modular studio spaces of the Designers’ Hub in Milan ”.
