Gdańsk Tech students win the Huawei Seeds for the Future program
Huawei Seeds for the Future is an international program that gives young people access to practical knowledge about the most interesting technologies of our time. It is aimed at students who are interested in 5G, AI, IoT, Cloud and Smart City. This year's program was attended by 30000 students from 108 countries from over 350 universities around the world. The team including Sara Kamrowska from FAPM and Daniel Cieślak from FETI took first place in the program, winning the Tech4Good competition - an international group project devoted to positive impact technologies.
The winning project - "Sensideer", is a system of thermal and motion sensors located in forested places particularly exposed to accidents with wild animals. The "Sensideer" system informs the driver of the vehicle about the potential danger. Thanks to the minimal delay of the 5G network, the system can inform the driver of the car about the exact location using radio communication, IoV, a mobile application or a properly activated light signal. In the future, the system is to recognize animals by means of machine learning and more accurately determine the migration paths of animals along the road infrastructure. Additionally, it can be implemented in the software of individual highly electrified cars.
At the end of the program, which lasted for eight days and was conducted online, a gala was held in Warsaw, where the 10 most active participants were additionally awarded. Among this group were Gdańsk Tech students: Sara Kamrowska, Daniel Cieślak, Gabriela Kaczmarek (ETI) and Jakub Kwiatkowski (ETI). The award was the latest Huawei electronic equipment.
