Gdańsk Tech becomes the Polish Academic Champion for the third time in a row!

Medal
Nearly 20,000 students from 130 universities across the country competed for the title of the best university in the country during PAC 2022. As in the previous two years, the title was awarded to Gdańsk University of Technology!

Once again, our university took part in all the disciplines that are part of the PAC. Only the main competitor of Gdańsk Tech - the University of Warsaw – also succeeded to do so.

– After what happened, I have such a feeling that it is worth being patient. The current successes are the result of our many years of systematic work. We approached the matter differently than most universities and we started our path to victories in PAC by building the appropriate infrastructure. Only then did we start organizing classes, sections and encouraging young people to practice sports, and at the same time creating an appropriate coaching staff. We wanted to take care of the development of sport in the amateur dimension – emphasizes prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech. – For over a decade, our university has been looking favorably at sport. The people who manage our Academic Sports Center, i.e. Krzysztof Kaszuba, Andrzej Bussler and Kazimierz Rozwadowski, make sure that everything functions properly. We want to improve all the time, which is why in the near future we plan to build an entertainment hall tailored to our needs, new tennis courts in a balloon hall, and to create a special restaurant for our student-athletes who will be able to order meals there taking into account all their needs and possible tips from dietitians.

Taking the first place in the general classification, Gdańsk University of Technology scored a total of 2907.5 points. This is the best result of our university in the history of participation in PAC. The University of Warsaw, second in the classification, scored 2783 points, and the third, the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, 2640.5 points. In the medal classification, Gdańsk University of Technology took 6th place. We missed the third place in this classification by only one gold medal.
