Rector of Gdańsk Tech was a panelist during the Maritime Congress in Szczecin

During the 9th Maritime Congress, which took place on 29-30 June in Szczecin, prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, took part in the debate as part of the Rector's Panel gathering universities related to the maritime industry. The topic of the meeting was "Science for offshore".  

Apart from the Gdańsk Tech rector, the debate was attended by: prof. Master Mariner Adam Weintrit, rector of Gdynia Maritime University, prof. Danuta Zawadzka, rector of the Koszalin University of Technology, prof. Jacek Wróbel, rector of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin and prof. Master Mariner Wojciech Ślączka, rector of the Maritime University in Szczecin.

As prof. Krzysztof Wilde stated, the chances of Polish companies for development in the offshore industry should be seen primarily in the process of wind farm operation, and to a lesser extent in the construction process. He also emphasized that the plans to build farms in the Polish waters of the Baltic Sea will have a multifaceted impact not only on the economic development of the country, but also on energy security and the fulfillment of sustainable development goals related to obtaining energy through green technologies.

The Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin, Wojciech Ślączka, was speaking about investments related to offshore wind energy and the most important challenges facing the industry, such as operation, diagnostics and monitoring. The Rector of the Koszalin University of Technology, Danuta Zawadzka, drew attention to the economic and financial aspects of investments, which depend on many variables. On the other hand, prof. Adam Weintrit, rector of the Gdynia Maritime University discussed the influence of offshore wind farms on safety in shipping. And the rector of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, prof. Jacek Wróbel, mentioned the aspects of environmental protection and the impact of the investment on the fauna and flora of the Baltic Sea, as well as the related risks and benefits.
