The Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk, thanked Marek Dzida, PhD, DSc, professor at Gdańsk Tech, for effective cooperation and supporting the development of education in Pomerania while serving as vice-rector of Gdańsk University of Technology. Professor Marek Dzida also received a commemorative medal from the marshal.

During the meeting at the seat of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Marshal's Office, which took place on Tuesday, 27 September 2022, and which was also attended by the Gdańsk Tech rector, prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Marshal Mieczysław Struk emphasized the invaluable merits of the Gdańsk Tech professor Marek Dzida for the development of education in Pomerania in the last decade.

– Throughout the whole term of office as GUT vice-rector, I could always count on the help of the professor and special commitment in the implementation of the projects of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Self-government aimed at the development of Pomeranian education - said Marshal Mieczysław Struk. – Please accept the words of respect and appreciation for your achievements in this position, also expressed through the increased prestige and achievements of Gdańsk University of Technology during this period - added the Marshal.

–The award from the Marshal is a great honor and distinction for me - said prof Marek Dzida. – I would like to thank you for the kindness and trust that have been placed in me. Since I myself am a graduate of Gdańsk University of Technology, it was extremely important and inspiring for me to serve as a GUT vice-rector. However, I was able to carry out many of the tasks only thanks to the effective work and kindness of many people with whom I cooperated on a daily basis: colleagues from the University of Technology, but also local authorities. Thank you for that, - he added.

Marek Dzida, professor at Gdańsk Tech received a congratulatory letter from Marshal Mieczysław Struk and a commemorative medal "De nihilo nihil fit" (Latin: "nothing comes from nothing"). During the meeting, the Marshal emphasized the strong commitment of the former Gdańsk Tech vice-rector in the project "Zdolni z Pomorza" (Gifted form Pomerania), implemented in cooperation of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Marshal's Office with pomeranian universities, as well as for the annual co-organization of the Pomeranian Student Scientific Conference. This conference, as a form of support for the development of particularly gifted youth, enables students of Pomeranian schools to take up educational challenges that go far beyond the framework of school education.

Prof. Marek Dzida has been serving as vice-rector for education, and then vice-rector for education and teaching since 2012. In the new academic year - 2022/2023 - his tasks will be taken over by newly appointed vice-rectors: Gdańsk Tech professor Barbara Wikieł (for student affairs) and prof. Mariusz Kaczmarek (for education).
