Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, rector of the Lodz University of Technology, took up the position of chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities. From September he will replace prof. Teofil Jesionowski from the Poznań University of Technology. One of the vice-chairmen is once again prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Gdańsk Tech rector.

The elections of new authorities took place during the KRPUT plenary meeting on 20 June at Gdańsk University of Technology. The candidacy of the new chairman received unanimous support. The following people were elected as vice-chairpersons: prof. Danuta Zawadzka, rector of the Koszalin University of Technology, prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology and prof. Marek Pawełczyk, rector-elect of the Silesian University of Technology.

Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik has been the rector of the Lodz University of Technology since 2020. In April this year, he was elected for a second term. During his research career, he carried out work for the industry, including calculations and design of the propeller drive for the world's fastest X3 helicopter. He also carried out projects related to low-power wind turbines, a system for removing mercury from exhaust gases of power units burning lignite, and methods and systems for the disposal of aerosol packaging. At the same time, he developed blood flow modeling. He led the team that developed mechanical heart valves and an air supply system for the controller of pneumatic heart assist chambers in the "Polish artificial heart" project.

The Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities (KRPUT) is a voluntary association of rectors representing Polish technical universities. The qualification for the group of technical universities is determined by the university's authorization to award a doctoral degree in technical sciences at at least one faculty or equivalent authorization. Currently, 22 rectors of technical universities and 11 affiliated universities operating in Poland are associated with KRPUT.
