Changes in the composition of the authorities of Gdańsk Tech

From the new academic year, the group of university vice-chancellors will comprise five persons, not four as it has been so far. The group of university chancellors is also expanding. On 30 September, the newly appointed authorities received official nominations from Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology.

New academic year brings about changes in the composition of the university authorities. The Senate of Gdańsk University of Technology appointed a new Vice-Rector for Student Affairs,  Prof. Barbara Wikieł, PhD. Prof. Mariusz Kaczmarek, DSc, became the Vice-Rector for Education. Both replaced Prof. Marek Dzida, DSc, who held the position of the Vice-Rector for Education and also supervised student affairs.

Prof. Barbara Wikieł worked as the director of the Mathematics Center. For many years she has been involved in didactics and the quality of education. Prof. Wikieł is a member of the Polish Mathematical Society and the Association of Mathematics Teachers.

Since 2018, Prof. Mariusz Kaczmarek has been the deputy head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics. In the years 2020-2022 he was the Vice-Dean for Organization of Studies at WETI.

There have also been changes in the Chancellor's Office. Anna Gerlach has been the Vice-Chancellor for Infrastructure since May this year, however has been associated with the Chancellor's Office for 12 years now. She worked as the main specialist, infrastructure coordinator. Andrzej Sobecki, PhD Eng, became the Vice-Chancellor for IT. He is also the rector's representative for use of the anti-plagiarism systems.

– I am very glad that you agreed to cooperate and I am certain it will be a fruitful collaboration. I am sincerely convinced that the students will benefit from the appointment of the vice-rector for student affairs, said Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk Tech. - I wish everyone success and a lot of motivation for work.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of Gdańsk Tech Student Government, who had the opportunity to talk with new vice-rectors, present their action plans for the following academic year and discuss problems and challenges that await the students community in the near future.
