"Project management at Polish technical universities" and "1st conference of the teams coordinating the IDUB program" are two events that were organized in October by Gdańsk University of Technology. The meetings were attended by representatives of ten universities that obtained the status of research universities under the IDUB program and fifteen technical universities from all over Poland.

The conference "Project management at Polish technical universities" (25-26 October) concerned primarily the regulations related to the realization of projects, solutions and problems in the process of implementing the PACT's assumptions and IT systems supporting project management at universities. On the second day of the conference, participants shared their experiences related to the use of various types of IT solutions that are implemented and used at universities to support project management processes.

At the second conference, during which the teams coordinating the implementation of the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" program met (27-28 October), the following topics were discussed: internal university regulations regarding IDUB funding, measures implementing indicators and preparation for the IDUB mid-term assessment in 2023.

Representatives of the IDUB office from Gdańsk University of Technology presented the key solutions used at Gdańsk Tech and the newly created "Grants" module, which is a modern tool used to submit grant applications. The scope of activities of scientific research centers as well as research and implementation centers of the university was also presented. Moreover, the meeting discussed topics crucial for all participants, concerning the implementation of the initiative in individual units. The most important issues included good practices as well as implemented and planned solutions to the issues indicated in the conference panels. University representatives also shared their methods and ideas for the emerging challenges, and presented the flagship activities of individual facilities, including special programs, e.g. dedicated to helping Ukraine. The participants described the approach of individual universities to the creation of inter-university unions / federations.

The host of both events on behalf of Gdańsk University of Technology was prof. Sławomir Milewski, vice-rector for science, and they were chaired by Waldemar Dzienisz, director of the Project Management Center, Monika Wieczerzak, PhD, Eng., and Magdalena Masa from the IDUB office.

– Both conferences were an opportunity to strengthen the relations between Polish universities and to exchange experiences and knowledge. The need for their organization is evidenced by the fact that the participants agreed that they will be cyclical and will take place at various polytechnics and research universities – emphasizes Vice-Rector Milewski.
