The most important investment projects of our university were presented during the visit - the STOS Competence Center and the Eco-innovation Center, which are financed from EU funds.

– The STOS Competence Center and its supercomputer and the Eco-innovation Center are currently the two largest and most important investments of Gdańsk University of Technology. They would not be possible without the support of the Marshal and the EU funds - said prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk Tech. – The developmental leap that our university has made, both at the technological and infrastructural level, was possible thanks to Poland's membership in the European Union and many programs that support us. Thanks to them, we can compete with the best universities on the continent.

– Poland is one of the most dynamically developing countries in the European Union, and science is a key element of development – said Elise Ferreira, European Union Commissioner for Regional Policy during her visit – Looking at the most important investments of the university, we see that European Union funds are well used here. It is very important to create opportunities to expand knowledge and conduct research.

Unveiling of the plaque at CK STOS PG

The guests had the opportunity to visit the STOS GUT Competence Center, which is at an advanced stage of construction, and its server room, where the new supercomputer will be placed. On the wall of one of the buildings of the center there is a plaque informing about the co-financing of the investment from the European Union funds, which was symbolically unveiled during the visit.

CK STOS PG was established on the campus of Gdańsk University of Technology at Traugutta Street. The facility will be the new seat of the IT Center of the Tri-City Academic Computer Network of Gdańsk Tech. The key element of the complex is a server room hidden underground, containing seven chambers. Supercomputers of various sizes and computing power placed in them will allow to conduct complex research work in many fields of science. The base cost of the investment is nearly PLN 160 million, of which over PLN 90 million comes from the EU subsidy, obtained thanks to the involvement of the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and its subordinate Pomerania Development Agency. After equipping the building with further elements of the supercomputer, the value of the investment will increase over time to over PLN 250 million.
