Baltic Windustry 2023. Offshore conference at Gdańsk Tech

Next Tuesday, 12 September, Gdańsk University of Technology is hosting Baltic Windustry 2023 conference. It is an event addressed to researchers, ivestors and representatives of the offshore wind energy sector. The speakers of the conference include the representatives of foreign universities, organizations promoting the development of wind energy, offshore industry companies, as well as the European Commission.

The conference "Baltic WINDUSTRY 2023: industrial research in offshore wind energy" is organized by the Offshore Wind Energy Center of Gdańsk University of Technology in cooperation with the Polish Wind Energy Association.

The event will be attended by researchers, experts and experienced professionals working in the offshore industry. The keynote speaker will be  Nevena Stevanovic from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. Other speakers include: Piotr Czopek, director of Polish Wind Energy Association, Prof. Niels-Erik Clausen, Department of Wind and Energy Systems at Technical University of Denmark, Christof Devriendt, Offshore Structures at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Anca-Iulia Cîmpeanu, Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission, Maciej Kiełmiński, Chief Expert at the Department of Innovation and Develooment of the Ministry of Education and Science, Prof. Barbara Stepnowska from the Faculty of Management and Economics at Gdańsk Tech, the Direcotr of the Gdańsk Branch of theAmerican Chamber of Commerce and Prof. Marcin Łuczak, Director of the Offshore Wind Energy Center at Gdańsk Tech.

The aim of this year's edition is to present and disseminate currently developing trends and new technologies in the offshore industry and to strengthen cooperation between the business and research communities.  

Speakers will present key information on current and upcoming financing instruments for research and industrial work, economic benefits and possibilities of gaining a competitive advantage after implementing research results in the offshore area. The program includes discussion panels on three key topics: politics and financing, industry and education, and research and digitalization. In the first panel, the speakers will present key information on current and upcoming financing instruments for research and industrial work, economic benefits and possibilities of gaining a competitive advantage after implementing research results in the offshore area. The session devoted to industry and education, will concentrate on the solutions to the shortage of qualified personnel and adaptation of the education profile to the actual needs of the industial sector. Research and digitalization, on the other hand, will demontrate the advantages of using digital technologies in different stages of the wind turbine operation. Representatives of Polish and international manufacturers of these components and wind farm operators will share their experiences.

Detailed program

The meeting will be conducted in English. It will take place on 12 September, start: 10:00 a.m., end: 3:00 p.m., in the conference hall of Hydromechanics building (No. 11). Registration required. The Baltic Windustry 2023 conference is under the honorary patronage of the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde and the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk.
