The best of the best in the region. Gdańsk Tech with the Pomeranian Eagle award
The event took place on Friday, 24 November at Dwór Artusa in Gdańsk. The plebiscite is organized by the editorial office of Magazyn Pomorski, under the patronage of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
– It is a great honor and great joy for us to be among such a distinguished group of winners of this prestigious award. Words of appreciation are due to the entire academic community of Gdańsk University of Technology - says Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Gdańsk Tech rector. – Over the last four years, in a very short time, we have achieved a lot together. We are the second research university in Poland, as one of only ten universities in the country. We have joined the prestigious group of leading technical universities in Europe - the ENHANCE consortium - where our partner is, for example, the ETH Zurich university. Together with the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, we established the Daniel Fahrenheit Union of Universities, making Gdańsk and our university a much stronger and more recognizable academic center.
– Gdańsk University of Technology is an efficiently and well-managed entity – said Małgorzata Winiarek-Gajewska, president of the NDI Group, who delivered the laudation accompanying the award ceremony for Gdańsk Tech. – It has always been lucky with the people who guided and managed it. Its Rector, prof. Krzysztof Wilde is, on the one hand, an outstanding scientist, a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and on the other, a person full of vigor and passion for what he does. His vision of continuing the development of the University towards a research university and introducing it to the group of leading scientific units in the world is very clear and has found recognition and support of the entire academic community of Gdańsk University of Technology.
For years, the Pomeranian Eagle statuette has been awarded to people and institutions that undertake important activities for the local economy, community, culture and sport.
This year, the prestigious Pomeranian Eagle award was awarded for the 18th time. During the gala, a total of 12 outstanding personalities, companies and institutions from our region were honored with statuettes - designed by the Gdańsk sculptor Katarzyna Konieczna. The ceremony was attended by representatives of local government authorities, MPs and senators from the region, as well as representatives of the business, sports and scientific communities.
