Our PhD Students Co-develop Eco-Electrodes to Remove Pharmaceuticals from Wastewater.

We are proud to announce a significant scientific achievement involving our PhD students, Iwona Kaczmarzyk, MSc, and Patryk Sokołowski, MSc Eng. They were part of an interdisciplinary research team at Gdańsk University of Technology that has developed an innovative method for producing 3D-printed carbon electrodes. The results of their work have been published in the prestigious scientific journal Nano-Micro Letters.

The electrodes developed by the team represent a breakthrough in wastewater treatment technology, enabling the effective removal of pharmaceutical compounds such as atenolol, metoprolol, and propranolol from water. Importantly, the new technology is more environmentally sustainable as it eliminates the need for rare and toxic metals, a common issue in currently available solutions.
