A 15-minute city project involving the Gdańsk University of Technology at the UN summit
The European ENACT 15mC project, which focuses on ideas for transforming areas in Gdańsk, Oxford, Trondheim and Valencia in line with the 15-minute city principles, was presented on Wednesday at the World Urban Forum in Baku by researchers from the Gdańsk University of Technology and other institutions. Locally, they have been working on solutions for the Young City district in Gdańsk.
The World Urban Forum is the world’s largest and most important conference on the development and implementation of urban policies, held every two years under the auspices of the United Nations. The 13th session of the Forum (WUF13) was co-organised by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Government of Azerbaijan. The presentation of the project involving the Gdańsk University of Technology was one of the few Polish highlights of the event.

Pomerania aims to become one of Poland’s key hubs for developing future technologies and an innovative economy. During the Infoshare conference, the Polish Development Fund, the City of Gdańsk, the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone and Pomerania’s leading universities – the Gdańsk University of Technology, the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk – signed a letter of intent regarding cooperation on the development of start-ups, space technologies and dual-use projects, i.e. those used in both the civil and defence sectors. The partners have declared to work together to strengthen the region’s technological potential and build Poland’s economic security.
The agreement sets out the intention for long-term cooperation among public institutions, the academic community and business support organisations. It aims to foster the growth of technology companies, promote the effective commercialisation of scientific research, and implement projects that strengthen the competitiveness and security of the Polish economy.
Over PLN 1.17 million for Gdańsk University of Technology - SPINAKER Programme
Gdańsk University of Technology has started implementation of the project entitled “Innovative Learning Opportunities within ENHANCE European Education Pathways,” which has received funding of PLN 1,173,070 under the “SPINAKER – Intensive International Education Programmes – Call 2025,” organised by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
As part of the project, Gdańsk University of Technology will launch six intensive international education programmes in the form of summer and winter schools. These will be interdisciplinary courses thematically aligned with the educational offer of all faculties of the university as well as the Doctoral School.

RWTH Aachen University invites doctoral candidates and early-career researchers to submit proposals for the interdisciplinary doctoral colloquium Enhancing Umbau: Interdisciplinary Practices and Processes, which will take place on 15–16 October 2026 in Aachen, Germany. The proposal deadline is 10 July 2026.
The colloquium focuses on Umbau — the adaptation, transformation, and continued use of existing buildings, neighbourhoods, and urban environments — as an essential strategy for creating resource-efficient, climate-neutral, socially just, and aesthetically rich built environments. Bringing together perspectives from architecture, urban planning, heritage conservation, design computation, artistic research, social geography, and related disciplines, the event aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on working with existing structures.
