– We can be different and have the right to be so. We can take sides in disputes and conflicts. However, regardless of our views and values, we should be honest and solidary, for the greater good and for the sake of our common future - said Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech, opening the ceremony inaugurating the new academic year at Gdańsk University of Technology.

In his speech, Rector Krzysztof Wilde summarized the past academic year, discussing the position of Gdańsk University of Technology in international and national rankings, initiatives implemented as part of the activities of Fahrenheit Universities, the development of cooperation between the university and secondary schools in Pomerania, as well as new Gdańsk Tech investments. He also emphasized how important an event the university's accession to the ENHANCE consortium of European technical universities was.

Gdańsk University of Technology ranked in the group 1001-1200 in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2024, rising from 1201-1500. Our university recorded the highest year-over-year increase of its total score result in the history of this ranking.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 covered 1,904 universities from 108 countries. A further 769 universities were not ranked but were given 'reporter' status, meaning that they provided data but did not meet the ranking's eligibility criteria.

This year's ranking is based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology, which includes 18 carefully calibrated indicators grouped into five areas:

High-tech anti-drone system for the protection of critical infrastructure to be developed at Gdańsk Tech

A consortium, led by Gdańsk University of Technology, will develop a system generating and emitting high-power microwave electromagnetic pulses to counteract attacks and harmful activity of unmanned aerial vehicles. The researchers obtained PLN 21,8 millon from the National Centre for Research and Development for the project.

– In view of a dynamically developing geopolitical situation in the world, protection of critical infrastructure, including both military and civil facilities, e.g. airports, power plants, power system elements, seaports and refineries, constitutes one of key challenges, as far as national safety is concerned. The objective of the project is to find solutions aimed at increasing the safety says Prof.

To meet the needs of its users, Gdańsk Tech Library is enriching its interiors with a new, independent co-working space: two acoustic cabins located in the Lending Library and the Main Reading Room in the Main Building. This state-of-the-art solution, which provides excellent acoustic insulation from the outside world, provides a separate place to work or study, allowing for unconstrained conversations and consultations with up to four people.

The academic year 2023/2024 has begun. We would like to invite you to visit the Gdańsk Tech Library in the Main Building, where librarians will provide instruction for beginning readers from Monday to Friday, 2-13 October, from 900-1500.

We also invite you to use the collections and services offered by the Gdańsk Tech Library. Below you can find a few basic rules on the Library functioning:

Legalization of stay in Poland - information meeting (October 9th)

The International Relations Office invites all newly admitted, international, English-speaking students and doctoral students to an information meeting regarding the legalization of their stay in Poland (Monday, October 9th, at 4:00 PM).

Legalizing your stay is one of the first mandatory steps for newly admitted international students and doctoral students upon arriving in Poland. Gdańsk University of Technology offers support in this regard through the Welcome Office (part of the International Relations Office) - a service point for international students, doctoral students, and staff.

In mid-October, Welcome Office staff will conduct an informational meeting during which they will explain step by step the process of legalizing your stay in Poland.

New Benefit Rules for the Students of Gdańsk University of Technology - changes regarding the rector's scholarship

On September 29, 2023, the Rector signed the new Benefit Rules for the Students of Gdańsk University of Technology, which is an annex to the Rector's Order No. 42/2023. The Rules enters into force on October 1, 2023.

We would like to remind you that each student applying for the benefit declares that he or she has read its content.

The changes in the Regulations concern primarily adaptation to the parent regulations, as well as the awarding of the Rector's scholarship:

Applying for scholarships in the winter semester 2023/2024

From October 2 to October 16, 2023, the Scholarship Committee accepts applications for a maintenance scholarship, a rector's scholarship, and scholarship for disabled people. Appropriate processes in the MojaPG system enabling the submission of an application will be opened on October 2. br. until 3 p.m. To receive a scholarship for the full period, i.e. from October, you must submit an application to the above-mentioned deadline.

We invite you to submit applications during our duty hours. From this academic year, you should register your visit in a queue system.

Alternatively, the application can be placed in the drop box located on the ground floor of the Bratniak building or by sending the application by Poczta Polska.

Call for applications for the Actinium Supporting Most Talented Candidates competition (02.10-02.11)

The goal of the program is to increase the effectiveness of Gdansk University of Technology in competing for the most talented candidates for studies, in fields corresponding to the subject matter of POB Centers.

The way to achieve the goal is through scholarships for particularly talented, based on the achievements obtained at the previous educational stage, students entering full-time studies of the first or second degree at Gdansk University of Technology.
