Next call for applications under Individual Research Studies and the RADIUM program

Radium
Individual Research Studies, hereafter referred to as ISB, enable the creation of individual training paths for the most talented second-level students in conjunction with their research under research projects.

Under the RADIUM Program, it is possible to obtain a university grant to finance the costs of ongoing research by second-level students in Individual Research Studies.
The ISB and the RADIUM Program are part of the implementation of IDUB's tasks to improve the quality of education of students and doctoral students, especially in majors and scientific disciplines related to the university's priority research areas, Measure III.1. (Modification of the education system for first and second degree studies).

Next-generation, eco-friendly piezoelectric materials

Oltrasonography
Researchers from Gdańsk University of Technology are working on new piezoelectric nanomaterials using the so-called electrostriction effect, which will be harmfuless to the environment and will be used e.g. in the production of new generation biocompatible ultrasonic transducers. The research is carried out as part of the international m-era.net project, together with partners from Denmark and Brazil.

Piezoelectricity is a process that consists in converting mechanical energy into electrical energy and vice versa. Although piezoelectric devices remain largely invisible in everyday life, they are applied in many everyday devices: from piezoelectric igniters, quartz watches, to microphones and loudspeakers. Piezoelectric elements are used to measure forces and stresses, e.g. in "digital" scales.
