In the hall of building number 42 of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, we can admire a monumental painting installation entitled "The Game". Its theme is artificial intelligence, which is the motto of the Faculty's jubilee celebrations. The composition was prepared by artists from the Department of Visual Arts, Faculty of Architecture: prof. Jan Buczkowski, Dominika Krechowicz, PhD, DSc, Edyta Urwanowicz, PhD and prof. Krzysztof Wróblewski, originator of the concept.

In the development of artificial intelligence applications, one of the turning points is the Go board game match, which took place in 2016 between the intelligent AlphaGo program and the world champion Lee Sedol. The arrangement of pawns for two of the five games played in the match – the one won and lost by Lee Sedol, was chosen as a starting point for creating the installation entitled “The Game", placed in the FETI hall.

The original black and white layout was replaced with dark and light tones, respectively. The result of such a solution is a colorful arrangement, which is also a record of a specific historical event.

The composition measures 343.9x687.8 cm and consists of 427 octagons with a diameter of 18 cm. On their surface were painted interpretations of icons of various applications and programs used in smartphones and computers. The collection of motifs also includes symbols related to the history of the faculty.

The project was carried out by artists from the DVA, Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk Tech. The creators include: prof. Jan Buczkowski, Dominika Krechowicz, PhD, DSc, Edyta Urwanowicz, PhD and prof. Krzysztof Wróblewski.

Each of the artists created a similar number of elements while maintaining their individual painting style. The individual parts have been mixed, which gives the effect of differentiation and multithreading. In this way the next level of “The Game" was created, this time with iconography, memory and visual awareness. The recipients can enjoy colors and shapes, but they can also immerse themselves in different meanings using the resources of their own imagination.

The painting installation entitled "The Game" was created as part of the 70th anniversary of FETI celebrations and was uncovered during the Faculty's jubilee session. A mural was also created as part of the celebrations, which we can admire on the walls of buildings adjacent to FETI (A mural was created on the Gdańsk Tech campus to celebrate the 70th anniversary of FETI | Gdańsk University of Technology).
