The collection – new location
Thanks to the huge commitment of the academic community - employees and students, but also the inhabitants of Gdańsk, during the three weeks of the collection of goods for refugees from Ukraine, several hundred boxes and bags with gifts were collected. The campaign organized at Gdańsk Tech supported the main city fundraising campaign conducted by the Gdańsk Foundation, and also helped to equip the Student House No. 11 in Brzeźno.
– Thanks to the donations, we managed to prepare the student house in Brzeźno for the arrival of people from Ukraine. The rooms were equipped with bed sheets and blankets, the most necessary cosmetics were available in the bathrooms, coffee, tea, sweets and small snacks were waiting for guests from Ukraine in the kitchenettes. We also took care of food supplies with a long shelf life in open kitchens, as well as dishes and cleaning products - says Anna Modrzejewska, head of the International Relations Office.
In turn, the numerous toys, board games, puzzles, coloring tools and books allowed to equip the common room operating in the dormitory, which is already used by the youngest guests from Ukraine.
Currently, about 150 people live in the dormitory in Brzeźno - mainly mothers with children. The dormitory, which is safe and equipped with the most necessary things, will remain their home as long as the situation requires it.
The collection point and sorting of gifts at 18 Sobieskiego Street, run by the Pomeranian branch of the PRC, operates from Monday to Friday, from 14.00-20.00 and at weekends from 10.00-18.00. Please bring your gifts to the former library pavilion, which is located behind the gym.
