Open Day for candidates for second-cycle studies at Gdańsk Tech

Are you considering to take up second-cycle studies? Or maybe you want to learn about the new fields of study that Gdańsk University of Technology is introducing to its educational offer? On 29th January you can take part in the Open Day. This is a great opportunity to discover what awaits you in your master's studies, meet lecturers, students, and talk to representatives of industries that will shape the future of technology.  

– After completing first-cycle studies, many people wonder whether to continue their adventure with education or focus entirely on professional development – says Prof. Mariusz Kaczmarek, Vice-Rector for Education. – However, studying for a master's degree does not eliminate the possibility of gaining professional experience. Gdańsk University of Technology meets the needs of students who want to combine work and studies, proposing, among others, a new formula and a flexible schedule of full-time studies. We are changing and expanding our offer so that second-cycle studies enrich the knowledge already acquired and meet the needs of the labour market and key industries.

The event program includes presentations of fields of studies and specializations that were created as part of the ‘Studia 5.0’ project, such as Space and Satellite Technologies, Energy, Nuclear Energy, Transport, Materials Engineering, and Chemical Technology.

In addition, the Hevelius Courtyard will host stands of faculties, scientific groups, employers, and other institutions that cooperate with Gdańsk University of Technology. The Fahrenheit Courtyard will host interesting lectures and meetings with experts, and there will also be an opportunity to visit selected laboratories.

Detailed event program:

29 January, Main Building, J. Hevelius and D. Fahrenheit Courtyards

• 09:00 – 09:15 – Welcoming guests and presentation of the assumptions of the ‘Studia 5.0’ project

• 09:15 – 10:00 – Renewable energy technologies in the Chemical Technology field of study

• 10:00 – 10:45 – Presentation of the second-cycle study program in the Transport field of study

• 10:45 – 11:30 – Materials Engineering II cycle – lecture on hydrogen in energy

• 11:30 – 12:30 – Presentation of the Energy and Nuclear Energy fields of study

• 12:30 – 13:15 – Space and satellite technologies – lecture on Polish space mechanisms

• 13:15 – 15:00 – Visiting laboratories and meetings with scientists. Meeting point: Fahrenheit Courtyard, then proceeding in smaller groups to the selected laboratories.

Lectures - presentations of particular fields of studies will be available in the online broadcast of the event on the university's YouTube channel.

Offer of second-cycle studies. New courses and a unique formula

The offer of second-cycle studies at Gdańsk University of Technology includes as many as 32 fields at 8 faculties. Some of them are conducted exclusively in English. Among them there is a new course at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology "Naval Architecture and Offshore Structures", conducted in the new "study and work" formula. It offers a combination of studies conducted in English with the possibility of professional work or conducting scientific research with a view to doctoral studies in the future.

In response to the growing demand for specialists in the field of nuclear energy, Gdańsk University of Technology is also opening new second-cycle studies in the field of advanced energy technologies in the field of design, analysis and optimization of energy systems based on nuclear technology. The "Nuclear Energy" studies will be conducted by specialists from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, mainly by employees of the Institute of Energy, with the support of staff from the faculties of Electrical Engineering and Automation and Applied Physics and Mathematics of Gdańsk University of Technology.
