IntechOpen journals webinar: Introduction to Open Science

IntechOpen's portfolio of Open Science Journals is a significant step in our development and commitment to Open Access and open research. With the aim of promoting the global benefits of openness in the community, we are organizing a series of free webinars that address the topics of Open Science.

The first in the series of webinars will be delivered by Sarah Greaves, STM Publishing Consultant and will talk about the Open Science concept and its advantages and challenges.

Earth Day walk
On Saturday, April 23, we invited our friends from Ukraine, who live in one of the university’s dormitories, for a nature walk along the beach and park, in order to celebrate Earth Day.

Every year on April 22, International Earth Day is celebrated. On this occasion, pro-ecological activities like group cleaning of parks, zero-waste workshops and many others, are organized around the world.

Over PLN 120,000 was obtained by the International Relations Office for the implementation of the project titled "Creating an emotional support system for international students at Gdańsk University of Technology". The first activities are planned for the beginning of the new academic year.

The project received funding from the National Agency for Academic Exchange "Welcome to Poland" program, which aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of universities in the area of ​​servicing international students and employees. In addition to Gdańsk University of Technology's application, 35 projects from all over Poland received a positive formal and substantive assessment.

Funds awarded in the competition will enable the support of student scientific circles, which are the natural environment for selecting leaders of research groups, organizational leaders and leaders initiating new research areas.

In the completed call, 14 high-potential proposals were submitted, of which as many as 11 received funding:

1. Preliminary integration of a medical device: laser computed tomography of gel phantoms in dosimetry and treatment quality verification in photon and hadron radiosurgery and radiotherapy.

IT, management, civil engineering and mechanical engineering are the fields of study that were most often asked about by students who visited Gdańsk University of Technology stand during the education fair in Istambul (April 16-17).

In mid-April, the International Relations Office represented the university at the International Education Fairs Turkey (IEFT) in Istambul.

We encourage you to visit our new webpage, where reports and studies on the broadly understood process of internationalization of higher education will be published.

On the new subpage, we will publish reports and studies, both in Polish and English, related to the situation of international students and the level of internationalization of universities in Poland, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education (trends in online learning, the impact of the pandemic on the mental health and well-being of students and employees) and the latest trends in promotion and marketing on foreign markets.

The best of the best marketing and promotion specialists in the academic world

Gdańsk University of Technology took 3rd place in Genius Universitatis 2022 - an open marketing competition organized by the "Perspektywy" Foundation, addressed to all Polish universities, including faculties and institutes. 37 universities took part in this year's edition, and 79 projects were assessed. We won the podium thanks to the idea and implementation of the Virtual Open Day, which took place on 21 March 2021, during the pandemic, and enjoyed a huge attendance of those interested in studying at Gdańsk Tech.

The Genius Universitatis competition, organized by the "Perspektywy" Foundation, aims to promote modern and innovative practices and marketing tools used by universities to support recruitment for studies and promotion of the entire university or a given faculty / institute. Universities could submit works in one or more of the eight competition categories. The applications were evaluated by the jury composed of marketing experts led by prof. Artur Krajewski, PhD, DSc from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
