Support for students from Ukraine

Gdańsk Tech building in Ukrainian colors
Students who interrupted their studies in Ukraine due to hostilities - may apply for admission to education at the Gdańsk University of Technology.

We invite students - citizens of Ukraine who were students of a university operating in Ukraine, who entered Poland in the period from February 24 and declared their intention to stay on the territory of Poland, to submit applications for admission to education at the Gdańsk University of Technology.

The best high schools and secondary technical schools in Pomerania awarded

Diplomas
The Gala of the Pomeranian Ranking of High Schools and Secondary Technical Schools Perspektywy 2022, which was one of the elements of the Gdańsk Tech Open Days is over. During the event, prof. Krzysztof Wilde, the rector of Gdańsk University of Technology and Józef Sarnowski, a member of the board of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, honored the best high schools and technical secondary schools. Representatives of the awarded schools planted trees on the campus, that are to be a symbol of the place where new scientific talents are growing.  

On 21 March, in the Gdańsk Tech Hydromechanics building, a ceremony was held to honor the best secondary schools in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, that is the Pomeranian Ranking of High Schools and Secondary Technical Schools Perspektywy 2022. Local government authorities and the authorities of the university itself, as well as representatives of the winning schools were invited to the event.

The "Fahrenheit Universities" community established

Implementing the mission of cooperation for the development of scientific potential and strengthening the position of Gdańsk as a strong, international academic center in the field of scientific research and modern education, the founding members of the Daniel Fahrenheit Gdańsk Union of Universities signed an agreement to create a "Fahrenheit Universities" community and on cooperation in the creation of the "Fahrenheit Universities" federation. The ceremony took place on 17 March this year at the Artus Court in Gdańsk.

The event was attended by the rectors: prof. Marcin Gruchała (MUG), prof. Krzysztof Wilde (Gdańsk Tech) and prof. Piotr Stepnowski (UG). Among other participants there were also the director of the FarU, prof. Adriana Zaleska-Medynska with her deputy - Katarzyna Zygmunt, who hosted the ceremony, as well as representatives of local authorities, who supported the joint activities of the three largest universities in Pomerania from the very beginning.

Accomodation

Dormitory No. 11, located in Gdańsk Brzeźno, was made available by Gdańsk University of Technology to the Ukrainian refugees. There are single and double rooms adapted to accommodate up to 160 people. The building has among others: a kitchen, laundry room, learning room, television room and a gym.

The collection – new location

After March 18, the collection of goods for refugees from Ukraine, conducted in the Hydromechanics building, will be included in the collection at 18 Sobieskiego Street, which is run by the Polish Red Cross.  

Thanks to the huge commitment of the academic community - employees and students, but also the inhabitants of Gdańsk, during the three weeks of the collection of goods for refugees from Ukraine, several hundred boxes and bags with gifts were collected. The campaign organized at Gdańsk Tech supported the main city fundraising campaign conducted by the Gdańsk Foundation, and also helped to equip the Student House No. 11 in Brzeźno.
