Another important stage in the construction of the STOS complex of Gdańsk Tech completed

One of the most important and largest infrastructure investments in Pomerania is being built on the campus of Gdańsk University of Technology: the STOS Competence Center. A state-of-the-art IT center will distinguish Gdańsk in this part of Europe. Fortunately the works are progressing according to the schedule despite unfavorable weather conditions. The construction has just reached the so-called "building shell" stage.  

STOS Competence Center (Smart and Transdisciplinary knOwledge Services) of Gdańsk University of Technology, which is being built on the university campus at Traugutta Street, is to be the seat of the Information Center of the Gdańsk Tech Tri-City Academic Computer Network. Its most important space is the so-called "Bunker", where one of the fastest supercomputers in Poland will be located, which will enable the collection, processing and archiving of huge data sets and the performance of complex simulations for scientific research.

Prof. Lech Kobyliński, doctor honoris causa of Gdańsk Tech, is gone

On 23 January, at the age of 98, died prof. Lech Kobyliński, an outstanding scientist, co-founder of Polish shipbuilding, constructor of experimental forms of watercrafts - hydrofoils and hovercrafts, doctor honoris causa of Gdańsk University of Technology.

Professor Lech Kobyliński was born on 1 May 1923 in Vilnius. He was associated with Gdańsk University of Technology since 1945, initially as a student, and since 1948 as its employee. It is here that he went through all the faculty positions at the university and it is also here where he obtained all his academic degrees. During his many years of work at Gdańsk Tech, although the professor's activity went far beyond its walls, he became known as an outstanding scientist, engineer and good organizer.

"Antimask" of extreme emotions - the extraordinary work of students of Architecture on display in the Main Building

The extraordinary work of students of the Faculty of Architecture is displayed on the first floor of the Main Building of Gdańsk Tech. These are two photographic images, a kind of record of emotions from the time of the first waves of the Covid-19 pandemic and being isolated at home.

The originator of the artistic project is a sculptor, Paweł Sasin, MA from the Department of Visual Arts. It was him and professor Janusz Tkaczuk who faced the challenge of conducting online sculpture classes.

Summer university courses in Hungary - open call
