The different areas of “open” are top of mind for many libraries. From open science to open infrastructure and open source, each area presents opportunities and challenges. How do we deliver optimal interoperability of the platforms and services that serve our libraries and their users? And can freely available and modifiable software deliver much needed flexibility in how platforms and services are deployed, managed, and extended?

Gdańsk Tech International Relations Office encourages staff and students to participate in the collection of items for refugees from Ukraine. In this difficult time, let us show our solidarity with the Ukrainian nation as an academic community.

All the collected items will be transferred to the Students Affairs Office/Students Houses, which is preparing dormitory number 11 in Brzeźno for the possible admission of refugees from Ukraine. In student dormitory no. 11, 160 places will be waiting for Ukrainians fleeing the war. The rooms need to be equipped with things and equipment necessary for everyday life. In case dormitory no. 11 won’t be used as a place of temporary stay for refugees, the collected items will be handed over to one of the aid organizations.

The best research projects of students have been selected

Krzysztof Cwalina, PhD, Eng., prof. Jacek Stefański, Dean of the ETI Faculty, Krzysztof Nowicki, PhD, Eng., professor at Gdańsk Tech and the winners of the 1st prize: Sebastian Urwan, Dominika Wysocka and Alicja Pietrzak.
The prototype of a radiolocation system with the use of deep learning, the use of machine learning algorithms to detect cancer in a biopsy and a prototype enabling effective detection of pedestrians at night - these are the best student research projects implemented at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics.

As part of the first edition of research projects, which is a continuation of the subject Group project in the second cycle studies at FETI, over 70 projects have been successfully implemented. The jury of the competition for the "best project at FETI" awarded three prizes and four dean's distinctions, and IHS Markit company awarded "the best project in the field of artificial intelligence". The award ceremony and presentation of the projects took place during the inauguration of the second-cycle studies at the faculty.
