The hardship scholarship is a one-time payment. It may be awarded to a student who finds himself in a temporarily difficult life situation. The application must be submitted together with documentation confirming the applicant's difficult situation. Each application is considered individually by the Committee which consists of students in the majority.
When can I apply?
There is no closed catalog of difficult life situations that entitle you to receive the benefit. Examples of situations that students cite in their applications include:
- death of a family member;
- serious illness of the student, including psychological or psychiatric consultations;
- serious illness of a member of the student's family;
- purchase of specialized medical equipment;
- purchase of glasses if vision defect requires expensive lenses;
- natural disasters (e.g. fire, flood, drought, storm), war;
- theft;
- birth of a child;
- other events as a result of which the student found himself temporarily in a difficult life situation.
Required documents
There is also no closed catalog of required documents. The student should attach such documents to the application so that they clearly certify the described situation and do not raise any doubts of the Committee. Here are examples of documents that, depending on the situation, should be attached to the application:
- death certificate;
- medical certificate, medical documentation;
- a personal invoice, e.g. for the purchase of equipment, psychological or psychiatric consultation;
- court decision, bailiff certificates, documents issued by the Police, Fire Department, insurance company;
- a birth certificate;
- income documents (e.g. certificates from the Tax Office, PIT forms);
- other certificates from relevant institutions and offices confirming the circumstances described in the application.
Remember!
- the hardship scholarship cannot be granted twice due to the same event;
- the hardship scholarship is not granted due to the situation which resulted in the granting of an increase to the social scholarship;
- the hardship scholarship may be granted to a student not more often than twice in the academic year;
- an application should be submitted no later than within 6 months after the occurrence of the event that the student refers to in the application for hardship scholarship;
- all documents should be originals or copies certified to be true to the original (by the Committee or a notary public).
