AEEiTK - Electronic, optoelectronic, microelectronic and embedded systems

General area information:

The research topics cover wide range of subjects matter of electronic, optoelectronic and microelectronic systems designed for measurement and diagnostics (also with artificial intelligence), alarm systems, person and product identification, car electronics, monitoring systems, product quality assurance systems, product electronization etc.

IMe - Power and Thermal Engineering

Efficient and Ecological Energy Systems

Intensification of heat and mass transfer in single- and two-phase flows (theoretical and experimental). Modern thermodynamic cycles for electricity production (theoretical and experimental). Energy storage (theoretical). Waste energy management (theoretical and experimental). Recovery and utilization of carbon dioxide (theoretical and experimental).

Keywords: heat and mass transfer, electricity storage and production, waste energy management, carbon dioxide utilization

IMe - Machine Dynamics and Mechatronics

Machine Dynamics is a field of study that concerns motion of various systems and forces acting on these systems during this motion. It primarily involves such topics as kinematics, dynamics, solid mechanics, acoustics and Finite Element Method. Some of the most important problems that Machine Dynamics have to deal with are inertia and vibrations. To predict the behaviour of a machine and control it or compensate unneeded effects and disturbances, various sophisticated methods and techniques are used.

IMe - Friction and wear

Tribology (the science dealing with friction and wear) is an interdisciplinary science with a great influence on many aspects of everyday life as well as a great potential in development of technology in a variety of industries. The activity of the research teams at our university is mainly concentrated in three listed below areas.

IMa - Materials engineering for industrial applications

General Information

Materials Engineering is a discipline that concerns the knowledge and principles of materials science into research on problems linked to the materials applications. Materials engineers continue to be at the vanguard of many areas of science. The Gdańsk University of Technology accommodates multiple groups researching various types of areas which all can be described as materials studies.

IMa - Advanced materials and nanostructures for sustainable technologies

General Information

Materials Engineering is a discipline that applies the knowledge and principles of materials science into research on problems linked to the materials applications. Materials engineers continue to be at the vanguard of many areas of science. The Gdańsk University of Technology accommodates multiple groups researching various types of areas which all can be described as materials studies. In the case of the scientific research undertaken in our university, we are interested in both industrial applications and basic research.
