AiU - Urban Studies

The research agendas carried out in the Faculty in the Urban Studies research field resonate with the urban challenges, environmental issues and social-demographic changes. Within research projects, we answer real-world problems. In our explorations, we use the potential of evolving technology and often work in interdisciplinary and international teams.

AiU - Architecture

The research agendas carried out in the Faculty in the Architecture research field resonate with the environmental issues and conntemporary social-demographic changes. Within research projects, we answer human problems. In our explorations, we use the potential of evolving technology and often work in interdisciplinary and international teams.

ILGiT - Building Materials Engineering

Our research works are experimentally and theoretically oriented. Experimental works are conducted at the full-scale and laboratory scale. The full-scale experiments are related to investigations of size effects in concrete and reinforced concrete beams, stability problems in large metal silos with horizontally corrugated curved sheets strengthened by vertical columns, management and control of heat supply into and heat extraction from external walls containing embedded pipes in a residential house and fatigue in steel beams.

ILGiT - Hydraulic engineering and water resources

This research area focuses on water flow in a variety of man-made and natural systems. We investigate engineering solutions for efficient management of water resources, including protection from floods and droughts, as well as the effect of engineering structures and land use change on natural hydrosystems. We cover most of the major hydrosystems, including rivers, channels, lakes, reservoirs, coastal marine waters, groundwater, urban water, pipelines and industrial systems.
